Starting Our Year: 4's Sept 2019

We began a new adventure with the 4's this year.  Instead of having a morning session for one class and an afternoon session for the other, both classes attended during the same time.  This was exciting, challenging and fun!

It didn't take long to build a sense of community.

We divided the whole group into two classes and played games to learn which class we were a part of.  They learned very quickly!

Group/center activities are a great way to make new friends.

Tipping the scales

Stamping names

Light table exploration

 Geoboards

 Math Activities

 Play-dough

 Finger painting

 Sand and water tables

Group work - putting a floor puzzle together

Creativity flows as they decorate the first letter of their name.

 Making a Friendship Chain.

We were blessed with many days of great weather and enjoyed eating snack outside.

There are lots of ways to get to know each other better.  Outside play is a favorite!

One activity had each child bringing in a favorite object to share with the class.  They brought it in a paper bag we had given them,

and then shared what it was and why we picked it.

Some showed us new ways to wear everyday items!

Each child made a scrapbook page and got to share them with their class.  We then laid them all out on tables so they could look closer at each one.  What a joy to listen to their conversations!

Playing games at Circle Time.

Measuring to see how many cubes tall our apples are.

A starting point ... too tall ...

Removed one cube, still too tall ...

Removed 2 cubes, still too tall ...

Removed one more cube and satisfied with results!

We couldn't let those apples go to waste so we cut them up,

made some dough and rolled it out,

and had delicious turnovers!

Working, playing, learning together is a great way to make friends!

Starting Our Year: 2's Sept. 2019

The beginning of the year can be a little unsettling for the youngest of our classes.  Lesson plans are prepared with this  "period of adjustment" in mind.  Here is our look back at September!

Welcome to the Hive!
